In the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), in order to guarantee the transmitting information integrity, the senders’identity authentication, no repudiation in the tradeoff, every data package sent by the source nodes should add the digital signatures. On account of the limitation of the nodes’computer ability, battery capacity, and the storage capacity in the wireless sensor networks, and even extensive producing datum and energy consumption of the digital signatures, appropriately choosing the digital signature algorithm becomes an important issue to improve the energy feasibility and prolong the network’s lifetime. This paper introduce three kinds of existing digital signature algorithms which are more widely used among them, including OTS(One-time Signature),ECDSA(Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) and RSA(Rivest-Shamir-Adleman), and analyzes the data transmission in the network application, as well as the energy consumption. Through the comparison, it is concluded that the OTS and ECDSA algorithms have better performance advantage than the RSA algorithm in the network. In a view of the advantages of OTS and ECDSA algorithm:OTS algorithm signing per a bit of data need to consume energy which is smaller to0than ECDSA algorithm, and ECDSA algorithm signing per a bit of date need to produce the amount of data which is less than the OTS algorithm. Therefore, we use the OTS algorithm and ECDSA algorithm in the same network, when close to the base station, the sensor nodes choose the OTS algorithm, when away from the base station, the sensor nodes select the ECDSA algorithm. Through the simulation, the conclusion shows that this approach can prolong the network nearly10%, compared with using OTS algorithm and ECDSA algorithm separately. In addition, we validate the feasibility of this approach in other ways, such as changing the network topology, changing the network security of digital signature algorithm, changing the signature rate of digital signature algorithm. They could increase the lifetime of the network by nearly10%, relatively using a single OTS algorithm or a single ECDSA algorithm.
