With the boom of information and communication technology and the advent ofnew technologies including mobile smart devices, wireless communication networks andintelligent biosensors, mobile healthcare is facing its unprecedented developmentopportunity and it has become a hot research topic in the field of interdisciplinaryapplication. Nowadays people are confronted with a variety of problems such as theshortage of medical resource, aging of population, chronic diseases and the rigmarole ofconventional healthcare, which makes high-quality long-term care and medicare becomethe focus of public concern. In this instance, our healthcare system combines wirelesscommunication technology with medical biosensor and achieves a remote monitoring ofmultiple physiological parameters. With the support of Android platform, this mobilehealthcare system offers medical reports retrieval, online diagnosis, health guidelines andpersonalized health monitoring. It provides users with multi-functional, instant, real-timemonitoring and interactive medical services in a low-cost and highly efficient way.Firstly, this paper introduces the research background and importance of the projectin detail, analyses the current research conditions and development of mobile healthcareapplication and elaborates the key technologies applied in mobile healthcare system. Thiswork integrates an instant messaging scheme into the mobile healthcare system based onthe XMPP protocol and implements instant messaging for online diagnosis in the systemby using the open-source Openfire server as the communication platform. Secondly, itpresents the structural design and implementation scheme of the system, and hasaccomplished the setting up of communication server-side and system server-side.Afterward, with a comprehensive analysis and comparison of various database, theoptimum database is chosen according to the current system design. The research isfurther fosused on database connection pool initialization and database model design.Finally, this study elaborates the design process of all functional modules in themobile terminal. It has realized the mobile healthcare system on the basis of Androidplatform and carried out the operation in real conditions. The results indicate that datatransmission between user-side and server-sided, wearable medical device and Androidterminal and also physicians and patients can be established through wireless communication. In addition, the data show that primary functions of system front havebeen successfully implemented.
