With the development of productive forces, geological hazards have a growingimpact on human survival and development. The system to monitor ground pressuredesigned in this paper, is to collect signal by ground pressure monitoring,which can beused to keep an eye on geological and environmental variation and predict thegeological disasters.This paper is aimed to design a new multi-modal ground pressure monitoringsystem based on serial port server collecting data by three part hypogyny datasampling system: Acoustic emission technology, stress measurement, displacementmeasurement, host computer and the slave computer carrying out the correspondencethrough serial port server and Ethernet, and effectively combining ground pressuremonitoring and network technology. In the PC system, the monitoring software usesVC programming language to control the collection of lower computer.This paper describes ground pressure monitoring technologies, then every moduleof system are detailed explained with picture and text, two kinds of constructingnetwork methods base on serial port server are provided, and the hardware part insystem is introduced and analysed. Next, the software design idea and program code ofthe realization of the communication protocol in every module are given. Therealization of site operation in system and monitoring methods over the Internet arepresented at last.And the joint monitoring is introduced through the comparison withthe three way of monitoring data control.The system which was designed by this paper has been in action now and trulyachieved the system to monitor ground pressure in online and realtime monitoring.
