With the rapid development of internet technology and sensor technology, the technologynamed the internet of things came into being. The technology has recrived worldwideattention since the late20th century, and has been used in many areas of both life andmanufacturing, such as intelligent city, intelligent transportation, and intelligent agriculture, and so on. The internet of manufacturing elements is the important branch of using theinternet of things in the field of intelligent industry, the important technology which canreflect the concept of “integration of informatization and industrialization”, and a hotspot ofresearch which can reflect the trend toward intellectualization of the manufacturing industry. The same as the internet of things, the internet of manufacturing elements is also a three-tiersystem and made up of sensing layer, transport layer and application layer.Because of its high precision, high degree of automation and high productivity, the CNCmachine has become the main manufacturing equipment in China’s manufacturing enterprises. With the growing number of the CNC machines in a enterprise, how to reconstruct theexisting shop management model to achieve the network management of the CNC machinesand real-time monitoring of the machines’running states is required. After reconstructing themodel, we can improve the utilization rate of the processing equipments, strengthen themanagement of the process and build better market competitiveness for the enterprises. This dissertation researches the CNC machines and designs a system named “RIA-basedRemote Monitoring and Management System for CNC Equipments” to achieve the effectivemanagement of the CNC equipments and machining process, according to the three-tierstructure of the internet of manufacturing elements.Firstly, the data of CNC machine and its data acquisition technology are analyzed andsummarized.Acorresponding scheme of data collection is provided according to the specificneeds of the dissertation. In this scheme, an embedded data collector is designed to collect thetotal current value of the CNC equipments by adding external sensor, the singles of themachines’working states by connecting to the machine’s PLC and its electric circuits, and theinformation of current program name, program start and end time, spindle speed, feed rateand current cutting tool number by receiving macros.Secondly, the existing communication technology of the CNC machine is analyzed andsummarized. The communicating scheme in this dissertation is as follows: the industrialethernet and serial port server are used to build the communicating network for the workshop, and the Modbus protocol is chosen as the communication protocol between sensing layer andapplication layer. The function working as a host of Modbus protocol is achieved throughworkshop, and the function working as a slave is achieved by running FreeModbus protocolstack in the embedded data collector. Using the serial port server, the remote transmissionfunction of NC program can also be realized in the data communication software. Finally, the existing remote monitoring technology is analyzed and summarized. Thesystem in this dissertation is divided into two kinds of softwares: the data communicationsoftware, and the monitoring and management software. The functions achieved in the system are as follows: data collection and communication, program management amd transmission, data monitoring and query, data processing and analysis, system settings, informationmanagement and report management.
