Modern Internet services are often implemented as one large-size, large-scale,complexdistributed system,The applications are often constituted a collection of sofeware module thatmay be owned by diffrent team, the modules in one application communitate each other byRPC-sytle call or some message-base communite technology sush as JMS.In suchenvironment, tools that aid in understanding system behavior and reasoning aboutperformance issues are invaluable. Here we introduce the design of Jtrace, one distributed tracing system base on the‘Black box’ performance debugging theory. Jtrace shares some conceptual similarties withother tracing system, particularly Dapper and X-trace, but certain design choices were madethat have been key to its success in our environment. The paper describe how our design golasof low overhead,application-level transparency on very large scale system were met.The main goal of this paper is to report on our design choices, our experiencebuilding, deploying and using this system.
