With the widely usage of virtualization technology, virtual machine technology was used by more and more enterprises in system and server construction. In the meanwhile, an important problem arose:how to effectively control physical machines and multiple virtual machines running on them. Although the environment compatibility, high operating complexity and security issues of the publication and deployment of the information systems for the traditional enterprises can be solved by the realization of virtual device, it also brought three new problems for the information system:virtual platform compatibility, platform compatibility and physical size, which leads to the result that administrators can-not effectively manage large-scale virtual machines by using the ordinary virtual device.To solve the problems mentioned above, a new virtual device based on the study of the commercial virtual devices is proposed. Our proposed virtual component can obtain the inner operation situation of the virtual machine by the agent service. This is more flexible for the management of the fine-grained.The main idea of agent service is that it is used to create communication between physical machine and virtual machines, then the administrators will be able to get the detailed data of virtual machines and manage the virtual machines. The agent service provides self-maintenance rules, sensors and effectors in virtual machine. The administrators can manage virtual machines without any management operations.In order to achieve the objectives, we have done the following work:1. A new model of virtual component was designed. It contains two parts:virtual component and virtual component management platform. The virtual component includes meta-information, maintenance rules, sensors and effectors. The virtual component management platform is composed of knowledge library, monitors, decision component and actuators.2. For the data transmission module, the minimal data set updating algorithm was employed to ensure the minimization of data volume, optimal network bandwidth and the efficiency of transmission. Experiment result show that this algorithm obviously increased the efficiency of the management of the cluster virtual machines.3. The monitor module interface of virtual component management platform was developed. Then the inner data of physical machine and virtual machines can be obtained so that the administrators can easily to check and manage it. We also presented self-maintenance functions as well as the connectors that it provides.
