BDS(Beidou satellite navigation system) terminal are playing an increasingly importantrole in transportation, sea rescue and other fields, with the rapid development of BDS. But now,most of the navigation terminal equipment are based on DSP or FPGA hardware platform, only asmall part of the ARM processor. ARM processors have a very distinct advantages,with lowpower consumption, small size and powerful performance characteristics, especially for thesupport of graphical interface and the control of application programming. Therefore, the study,based on the ARM BDS terminal, can have a greater social and economic benefits. This researchis a part of a company’s "Compass II Marine Navigator" project in Xiamen, the project containsthe underlying driver, VGA digital-analog converter, electronic charts and other modules. Themain topics for the paper are the key technology research of the underlying drivers and ARMVGA converter module.The paper describes an embedded system, the current status of the development of VGAtechnology and Beidou satellite navigation system, analyzing the standard VGA and TFT-LCDtiming and introducing the VGA interface definition.Hardware design choices ARM processor as the core of BB-Black in the hardwaredevelopment platform. According to the principle of VGA display, and the features of LCDcontroller interface in BB-Black development board, it designs the ADV7123digital-analogconverter chip as the core of the D/A conversion circuit, and it realizes the convert of the LCDto VGA interface.System software design select for development under the ARM processor non-operatingsystem environments, and focus on the driver of LCD, UART and SD card. According to BDSsentence format, program the analytical procedures of Compass data and transplant FatFs filesystem data on the SD card management. Finally, in accordance with the display principle ofChinese and ASCII, it programs the corresponding Chinese and ASCII character dot matrixextracted from the SD card.The system output timing is tested and analyzed, the results show that the system isavailable and effective. The image display applied to project by this study are clear, stable, andhave gotten the prospective effects.
