In today’s GSM wireless network, there are various kinds of malfunction that cannotbe fixed soon artificially. Thus GSM wireless network will not work correctly and hasgreat influence on the daily life and production, even causes network accident. TheFault Management Assistant (FMA) system is designed for such problems. It can collectand analyze malfunction data, diagnose the causes instrumentally and automatly, thenfix the problems quickly and correctly.This thesis has a good research on GSM wireless network malfunction, elaboratesreasons of all kinds of faults and how to deal with these faults. All these methods usedto solve network malfunction can be classified and customized. The fault managementassistant system (FMA) is integrated with many universal methods to diagnose rootcauses of network malfunction. After wireless network fault happened, FMA system cancollect related data in time, and then use integrated methods to diagnose root causes ofthe accident. First of all, this paper describes the framework of the FMA systemgenerally, then represents how FMA system collects and analyses data. Secondly, thispaper modeling this system with UML, and this helps the developing of the projectclearly and parallel. In the end, the paper introduced agile development in detail. Weused agile development method to control the process of our project. In agiledevelopment, iteration development is another important concept. In process of theproject, every member of our team takes charge of one model, and one iteration is aphase to achieve particular goal. And after one iteration, the function of the wholesystem is not influenced by new iterations. In one iteration, there are unit tests,integrated tests and system tests to make sure every iteration cannot import newproblems to the system, meanwhile can import new functions to the system.The correctness and quickness for malfunction locating is better than many wirelessnetwork experts expected. With the continually developing and updating, the systemwill do more and better in wireless network fault diagnose.
