Nowadays, with rapid urbanizing process, it’s more difficult for people to goout under the influence of traffic related events, such as congestion, traffic accidentsand road maintenance, which cost much time and energy. In recent years, Europeangovernments start to propel Smart City, which aims to ease the daily life of peopleand save mobility time and energy. With the development of Internet and rise ofsocial network, social data and crowd data spread more quickly, laying thefoundation of event extraction based on public data.There are plenty of services for trip planning and most of them only considerthe static information but not real-time events during the trip. If the servicenavigates users to a road with traffic jam, it costs a lot. Few systems take events intoconsideration, but they only focus on a single source, which cannot guarantee realtime and accuracy.The thesis proposes the Event Awareness Trip Plan Platform, which is asubproject of Integrated Real-time Mobility Assistant (IRMA) project, to providepath finding service with event avoidance. It is composed of two subsystems, EventExtraction System collects data from external systems by API and web service anduses natural language process (NLP) methods to extract events. Trip Planner isimplemented based on OpenTripPlanner and it designs a new routing algorithmbased on A*with the consideration of event impacts. It returns itineraries withevent avoidance to user.This paper describes the project according to the software life-cycle in terms ofsystem requirement analysis, system design, system implementation and system test.It presents a new trip planning solution to avoid events smartly. In the end, itconcludes the work and gives some prospects about the future work of trip planner.
