In recent years, cardiovascular disease(CVD) has become the leading cause of death among huamn beings. The best way in treatment is to monitor the patients with the help of dynamic electrocardiogram. However, this method is comparatively costly and fails to fit for ordinary sufferers. Experience has proved that the portable electrocardiogram equipment is the right choice for ordinary patients. It is capable of realizing an electrocardiogram (ECG) on a constant basis. But it cannot provide the real-time heart condition, assitance and guidance to sufferers when CVD bursts out. Actually, what we really need is a round-the-clock monitoring plan combining all advantages of methods mentioned above, a plan without time and place limitation, and most important one, no influence on patient’s normal activities. So the remote ECG monitoring system emerges as times require.This paper presents the design and application of a remote ECG monitoring system which adopts the structure of “electrocardiosignal collection terminal to remote monitoring terminal”. ECG collection sensor and smart mobile terminal consistute the ECG signal acquisition terminal. The sensor connects with mobile phones through bluetooth, which transmits the collected signals to mobile terminal continually. After that, with the assistance of3G network or GPRS, the signals will be delivered to remote monitoring terminal. Users are able to check real-time dynamic cardiograms at mobile terminals and also can view historical ECG records as well as diagnoses. Mobile terminals provide users with geographic position based on Baidu Map Android SDK. When a user is in discomfort, he can know where the nearest hospital locates and gets navigation. When the user’s condition is getting worse, he could alert the remote monitoring terminals from mobile phones. Then, according to the user’s location, doctors at the remote monitoring terminal can take measures at the first time and inform user’s family. Receiving the alert, the user’s family will be able to fix the user’s position and get the quickest route to the user’s location by using the mobile terminal. Besides, mobile terminals provide the function of instant messaging based on Baidu Cloud Push. The remote monitoring terminal using B/S architecture. Using ExtJS framework structure rich client applications, based on the Struts2framework to realize the control of the business logic and using the Hibernate framework for data persistence. The user can login remote monitoring terminal to check the history of ECG records and medical diagnosis, historical records. Doctors can use mobile application or through the browser server gets the users’ history records and add diagnose annotation. The remote monitoring terminal realizes real-time monitoring of user location based on Baidu Map JavaScript API and WebSocket protocol, and also realizes function of instant messaging with WebSocket protocol. The function of instant messaging in mobile terminal and remote monitoring terminal provides a platform for users and doctors to communicate. So, users will obtain medical advices in time. In this way can users be comprehensively telemonitored.
