Flexible printed patch antenna is a new tape antenna. It is lighter, more variable than traditional antenna, In addition, It can integrate with other structure. It has been widely applied in the fields of aircraft, radar, satellite communications, mobile communications equipments. It is an important thing to ensure the flexible printed patch antenna can work stably in complex mechanical environment.Based on this background, In this paper, The research is about the mechanical properties of flexible printed patch antenna. polyimide and conductive silver paste is an important part of the flexible printed patch antenna. Firsts, We printed conductive silver paste on the polyimide surface. Research the tensile and peel properties by experimental and finite element method. In finite element method, we apply cohesion unit to achieve peel simulation. The results show that the thickness of conductive silver paste can enhance the tensile and peel properties. At last we use scanning electron microscopy observe the damage situation of test specimen. Flexible printed patch antenna can be used as a new tape strain sensors. Therefore, we designed and produced three different forms flexible printed patch antenna. We used theoretical models, finite element simulation and experiment methods studied strain transfer properties of flexible printed patch antenna. Analysis of the relationship between PTFE thickness and strain transfer rate. The results show that, the theoretical model, finite element simulation and experimental results very consistent. So we can be sure the result is accurate.
