China Telecom has developed the technology of sending and receiving short messages by the Fixed Network Telephone in many areas, which leads to the boom of the Fixed Network Telephone terminals. Now most of the terminals are produced in various ways, such as adding special chips to MPU, using Integrated Circuits of FSK and DTMF respectively, designing on SCM with FSK and DTMF Integrated Circuit and so on. The Systems on Chips (SoC) has been produced in Britain. The meaning of design on SoC is that MPU, Analog IP, Digital IP and Memorizer (or Controlling Accesses of outer Memorizer) are integrated on one chip to accomplish the complex and various tasks.In the dissertation, the Top Down design style is chosen based on the technology of SoC, such as functional programming, VHDL describing, functional simulating, logic integrating, validating and so on. The aim of the design is to integrate the MCU, CID, DTMF and ROM on the special SoC. And the traditional problems in assembled or board circuits can be handled, such as high energy-consuming, lapsing of the board because of too many parts on printed circuits, high demanding of cold wind, too much cost caused by the hardware consumptions.The main work in the design is simulating the functional models of Fixed Network Message on SoC based on the FPGA to complete the design and test of the 8051 kernel, FSK and DTMF models. At last, the simulation results of some models are downloaded on the hardware to test and the outcomes are given.The good characters of the agility, functional clipping, software /hardware programming and integrating are appeared in the design based on the SOPC of FPGA.The research in the dissertation shows that the hardware simulation of fixed network short message on the SoC can improve the performance of the circuit, shorten the period of design and reduce the risk. More importantly, the cost can be reduced in large scale production. So the design is practical and widely used.
