In these years, with the rapid development of the computer technology, it provides a strong technical support for in-depth medical research. At present, medical3D visualization is a new research hotspot in the field of clinical applications, and the study about medical visualization is constantly improved and has a wider range of theoretical and applied research. The traditional volume measurement methods are aimed at2D medical images, but with the rapid development of science and technology, the traditional volume measurement methods based on2D images are not with reusability and reproducibility, so they can’t satisfy the needs of modern medicine. The accuracy of these volume measurement methods can be enhanced, they can be affected by the interval of the scan images and methods of calculating area, especially for the organ or tissue of irregular shape, the errors of volume measurement is even larger. In order to avoid these problems, in this paper, a new method based on3D visualization techniques was proposed for measuring the volume of medical3D reconstruction surface model directly. It can measure the3D model directly and be used for clinical application, which help doctor to judge the state of an illness and make appropriate treatment plan. In addition, medical volume measurement is beneficial to estimate the timeliness and treatment effect of drugs. So,3D volume measurement method has greater significance and reference value in clinical medicine.In the paper, several volume measurement methods used for clinical medicine were introduced in detail and an engineering research method——projection was applied in the volume measurement of medical3D reconstruction model. First, a series of medical images were preprocessed, then the classical Marching Cubes algorithm was used for surface rendering and some corresponding functions were put forward to implement the interactive operation. Hole-repairing and unit vector modifying were also needed to be involved into the process of model reconstruction. At last, all triangle meshes are classified and projected on a set projection plane using statistical method, and then the volume data of medical3D reconstruction model was achieved. The main advantages of this method are that it has better3D visualization effect, real-time interaction and high measuring accuracy, which are beneficial for clinical needs.In the paper, a new idea and method was applied in the volume measurement of medical3D reconstruction model. The volume measurement method of medical3D reconstruction model was implemented combined VS2005development platform with VTK development tool, and the method contributes to increase the functional requirement for clinical medical system.
