Sea clutter is a backscatter echo coming from the ocean surface by radar, whichis the most important clutter source of ship-borne radar equipment. The existence ofsea clutter will disturb the target detection and positioning performance.Thus analyzecharacteristics of the detection area sea clutter, establish an accurate sea cluttermodel and study the algorithm of restraining sea clutter is one of the hot issues.The research contents of paper include the characteristic of sea clutter,simulation of different distribution models, prediction and restrain of sea clutterbased on GA-WNN etc. The main work done in this article is listed as follows:(1) Discussing the basic properties of sea clutter, analyze the impact and causesof sea clutter generated by its nature different sea conditions. Then the sea clutter’samplitude characteristic and correlated characteristic was researched in this paper,optimized the sea clutter’s statistical model.(2) Discussing sea clutter simulation method: ZMNL and SIRP. Focused on thelinear filter design problem, the Rayleigh distribution,Lognormal distribution,Weibull distribution and distribution form sea clutter simulation sequence arecompleted.(3) A method for chaotic time series prediction based on genetic algorithmwavelet neural network (GA-WNN) is discussed by analyzing the theory of phasespace reconstruction.In this method, GA (Genetic Algorithm) is introduced towavelet neural network, GA can improved network’s parameters, Combined withPhase-space reconstruction theory, actual measured sea clutter data to get areasonable delay time and embedding dimension by Mutual information method andCao methods respectively. The simulation results show the model of sea clutter canbe based on known data predict future changes in value. Ultimately it can achievethe sea clutter’s prediction and elimination, and get a better effect.(4) Completed the design of visualization software, using the GUI function inthe MATLAB to programme the main interface software and sub-interface functionmodule, making the application of the software become simple and intuitive.
