As a new industry field, there is no information system comforting with thecharacteristics of exploration for Coalbed Methane(CBM) industry. With thepopularization of workflow technologies, it has become a hot issue to apply workflowto the Coalbed Methane field surface gathering and transferring system. In this paper,the detail design and realization of workflow management modules in CBM companyare used as background to study workflow management technology.For the convenient submission and approval of data reporting between alldepartments in large-scale CBM company, the daily process activities such as usage,monitoring, management and routing inspection are investigated. The universalworkflow production management technologies are also researched. The paper isbased on the lightweight class J2EE framework and introduces the design modules oflayered architecture in Coalbed Methane field surface gathering and transferringsystem. The detail functional modules and main configuration files are designed andlisted in accord with the enterprises’ need.This paper reports the workflow technology application status in CBM industryand discusses the necessity and urgency of exploiting Coalbed Methane workflowmanagement system. The software architecture and function module of the system areconfirmed, on which the completed database and system interface are based. Thesystem functions are realized by programme, in which the key technology involvedare illustrated in detail. The submission and approval of data reporting as well as theallocation of different role function privilege is achieved by system developmentamong all departments in CBM company. Petri net model is used as workflowmodeling approach and the whole workflow processes are successfully modeled andanalyzed.
