Nowadays, all kinds of applications increase rapidly with the Internet is used widely. Andthe demand of video call is increasing sustainablely. However, there is no exist that one kindof endpoint unified the whole communication. There are many different endpoints in themarket. For people, converged communications are more and more important. Because of theconvenience of browser, more and more applications based on browsers appear. It come truethat video call based on browsers, not using plug-in, with the appear of WebRTC technology.More browser vendors in the global join the technology wave of WebRTC.On the other side, with the popularity of open source, it becomes a good choice for themass of vendors that instant messages supporting xmpp protocol. For jingle protocol, itshows great potential and treads gradually as the xmpp extensiable protocol supporting p2p,voice and video. In this paper, it connects the two different networks with the help ofconverged gateway, which based on the standard research of video call using WebRTC, videocall using Jingle and the possibilities of connectivity of WebRTC network and Jingle network.In this paper, it proposes two converged solutions. Through the research on thepossibility, it design the overall architechture, signaling gateway, media gateway. Besides, itdesign detailedly that signaling interaction, information flow and son on. And it realize thesignaling gateway and media gateway, including protocol conversion, packetization anddepacketization of H.264and VP8, encode and decode of VP8and H.264.Lastly, it test and analyze the converged gateway from two aspects of function andperformance. It test the basic function by setting the test points. They passes. And it verify theintegrity of converged gateway’s function through successful video call between WebRTCnetwork and Jingle network. The Picture is normal. Additionally, through latency and packetloss rate, it tests the performance of converged gateway. The result is blew1%and0%. In theaspect of latency, it takes25.04ms from VP8to H.264. It takes33.02ms from H.264to VP8.It relize the command of real time. It verifies the possibility and correct of gateway ondesigning. It realize convergence between WebRTC and Jingle on the standard.
