According to the latest news published in China animation industry website: in2013our country produced358domestic TV animations, only204732minutes.24provinces as well as relevant units produced domestic finished TV animations.Domestic animation production consecutively declined for two years.Low productivity and poor quality are the issues that plagued China’s animationindustry. The key reason is that the domestic animation technology is relativelybackward compared with foreign countries. To explore a road for the development ofChinese animation and to change the present backward situation of animation levelare the issues that need to be solved urgently.The paper adopts the research methods of combining theory and practice. Ittheoretically analyzes the merits and demerits of2D and3D animation, and somesuccessful cases of2.5D animation in the application of2D and3D are discussed inthe practical level. With the integration of2D and3D animations’ respectiveadvantages, the paper puts forward2.5D animation technology which conforms to thedevelopment trend of China’s animation. At the same time, taken the2.5D animationproduction projects "the legend of Li Mushan" as an example, the articlesystematically illustrate the script creation, character design, scene design, the designskills of shooting in2.5D animation, and the production of2D role and3D scene,editing and synthesizing in the project. Aiming at all kinds of technical problems in2.5D animation production, the paper makes systematical study and analysis. Forexample, it puts forward the corresponding solutions and skills to the problems thatmay exist in the process of production, aiming at providing some reference to ourcountry’s animation and the related personnel in the process of animation theory andpractical operation.
