In a multi-user wireless communication system, how to control the media access channels to achieve efficient utilization of the limited frequency spectrum resources is one of the most important problems. Compared with CSMA, TDMA which does not support concurrent multiple access (MAC) protocol, this paper gives research on the MAC protocol design with multi-packet reception (MPR) capability for receiver in a distributed environment. Traditional MAC protocol can not make full use of MPR capabilities, so it’s urgent to design a responding new MAC protocol. This thesis surveys lots of puzzles in MAC protocol design with MPR tech, and purposes a new MAC protocol based on link cluster competition named LCCBMAC protocol. This new protocol contains the head node’s contend, in-cluster node requirement scheme, and out-cluster node’s contend etc. It can fully utilize the advantage brought by MPR. Our innovation is that exploiting the character of concurrent links et to gain multi-hop concurrent link in the channel contend, which can improve the whole network performance and throughput.Unlike competition based on a single link, concurrent link based contend need to take consideration of interaction of concurrent link. We also purpose the notation of Bad node in concurrent strategy and design the evaluate scheme for both static and dynamic network. We test the concurrent performance in network throughput and stability. Based on Bad node value, we design the elimination scheme of Bad node to decline the overhead of concurrent transmission and the possibility of failure transmission from the head node, and make sure the reliability and fairness of concurrent transmission. Based on USRP and GNU Radio platform, experiment results show our protocol’s efficiency and affectivity. However, the overhead of the link cluster competition increases rapidly with the network density increasing. In order to improve the utilization of the wireless channel, it is an important issue in the future to control it.
