60GHz wireless communication system is considered as the most promising wirelesscommunication technology in the next10years because of the7GHz bandwidth usedwithout license,10W transmission power and the high transmission rate about severalGbps. It is neeessary to employ beamforming teehnology for60GHz wirelesscommunication due to the large path loss. The mass data of channel state information inadaptive beamforming technology may bring the net work overhead seriously. Thus thebeamforming technology based on codebook is becoming a hotpot of the research. In the paper, we firstly do deep research on the beamforming technology and focuson the features of the beamforming mechanism in the current two international standards,IEEE802.15.3c and IEEE802.1lad. Next, to against the performance drawbacks of thecodebook design in the IEEE802.15.3c, we propose some new schemes for beamformingcodebook design, which are N phases codebook, Hamming window based codebook,Blackman window based codebook and Gaussian window based codebook respeetively. All the four sehemes which can be specified into these codebooks have achievedlow-complexity and low-energy performance. After establishing rational system modeland detailing the funetion module, we evaluate the performances of our codebooks inMATLAB focusing on beam configuration and array gain. The simulation results showthat the proposed codebooks can almost outperform the existing ones in the standard ofIEEE802.15.3c, and it could show better characteristics by using different code accordingto the requirements of the different environment.
