| China’s Lianghui, as a window of China’s domestic affairs and weather vanepredicting China’s economic trends, has become the focus of the whole world.Translated Lianghui news reports abound and play a significant role in China’spublicity campaign. However, a survey of target language readership response showsthat English news reports translated by China’s media do not appeal to most foreignreaders. A comparison of these reports with their foreign equivalents show that this islargely due to the negligence of the TL readers’ cognitive frame and target newsframes. To address the problem, this study resorts to the Frame Theory and expoundson the trans-editing principles and its application in topic selection, headline and leadrecreation, body restructuring and backgrounding. |
