Satellite communication is one of the most advanced communication technologiesin the world today, covering large area and long communication distance make it playan important role in various fields. With the demand for higher communicationtransmission rate, the satellite communication channel capacity requirement is alsoincreasing, MIMO technology is widely used in land mobile communication systemsfor its providing diversity gain and multiplexing gain, which makes more and morescholars dedicate to explore applying MIMO technology in satellite communicationsystems to meet people’s needs. For there is strong LOS (Line Of Sight) characteristic insatellite-land link and free space loss, however, there must be plenty of reflection, scattering component when applying MIMO technology in terrestrial mobilecommunication system to ensure no relevant characteristics in MIMO subchannels. Thesatellite mobile MIMO communication system is of practical value or not is still in thetheoretical stage. For the limited space on the satellite, placing several antennas causes astrong correlation on a satellite and affects MIMO channel characteristics. Therefore, there are two ways to realize MIMO technology in satellite communication system: oneis the polarization satellite MIMO system, the other one is distributed satellite MIMOsystem. However, due to the delay factor and serious synchronized problem indistributed satellite MIMO system, achieving polarized MIMO systems on a singlesatellite is the most viable option.Firstly, the background topics and the importance of applying MIMO technology insatellite mobile communication and channel modeling in satellite mobile MIMO systemare analyzed, the research status of the current narrowband and broadband mobilesatellite MIMO channel modeling and satellite mobile MIMO channel emulator in homeand abroad are analyzed. The theoretical typical mobile satellite MIMO communicationsystems and satellite mobile MIMO channel statistical characteristics and channelcapacity are analyzed. Three different environments narrowband satellite mobilepolarized MIMO channel model are established taking use of SystemVue and Matlabsimulation software, including Loo model, MIMO channel model and two state Markovchannel state transition model in the modeling process. Each subchannel of the timeseries, statistics, and channel capacity are computed in the simulation software to verifythe correctness of the model. Then the reason of broadband satellite mobile MIMOchannel frequency selective fading is analyzed deeply. Then the multi-scattering modelbased on phase change and tapped delay line model based on magnitude of change areestablished for three kinds of broadband satellite mobile polarized MIMO channelmodel. The accuracy of the model and the channel characteristics are verified by simulation results, the feasibility of two modeling methods is analyzed. Finally, takinguse of N5106A PXB channel simulator and some other hardware equipments based onthe tapped delay line model as theoretical model to realize the broadband satellitemobile polarization MISO and MIMO channel, then the89601vector signal equipmentanalyzes the effect on the link between satellite and land mobile terminal when signaltransmission.
