Research On Wideband High Frequency Channel Simulator

Channel is the important part of the communication systems and channel simulators are an effective means for the evaluation of radio system performance. Although narrowband models of the HF channel have existed for many years, with the development of the HF communication they are not applicable to the complex wideband HF channel conditions.In this paper, with understanding of the Watterson model, the hardware platform based on TMS320VC33 and its peripheral equipments, the existed narrowband HF channel simulator is improved and added with new function. For example, improvement of the Gaussian noise generator and implement of the frequency sweep function are given.Secondly, the physical characters and the models of the HF channel are analyzed, the existed wideband HF channel models are analyzed and compared, and Hoffmeyer model is simulated.Finally, the work of the paper is summarized and some advices are given about the future work.
