With the continuous improvement of human living standards and rapid development inscience technology, more and more types of electronic products come out. For example, inrecent years, consumer electronics market becomes more and more huge. The types of mobilephones, tablets and other products update rapidly.The huge production of electronic products requires more electronic placementequipment. Machine vision technology is one of the core technologies of placementequipment. Traditional placement machine vision systems are subjected to high hardwarecosts and long development cycles. This paper designs an embedded vision system of SMTplacement based on dual-core DSP, realizes the separation of the motion control system andvision system.This paper introduces the hardware design of embedded vision system and discusses theembedded vision system’s application methods in the SMT placement. My research workfocuses on the following aspects:1. According to the demands of the placement machine vision system, designs anembedded real-time processing vision system based on the dual-core DSP processorADSP-BF609, which can connect with the high-speed linear CMOS sensor ELIS-1024andthe high-speed array CMOS sensor MT9M001. The system’s functions also include theoperation input, VGA image output and so on.2. In order to make full use of the dual-core DSP processor resources, designs a task ’smanagement software architecture based on the embedded real-time operating systemuC/OS-II for the DSP’s first kernel. Designs another software architecture to deal with theimage acquisition, PVP image preprocessing and image processing for the DSP’s anotherkernel.3. Considering the requirements for the placement machine, the vision system uses theDSP’s Pipelined Vision Processor(PVP) to preprocess the image and try the best to improvethe processing speed.
