With the rapid development of the computer vision, video tracking has been widely applied in the fields of intelligent surveillance, etc. This work presents the design and implementation of a golf caddie robot system with autonomous tracking ability based on computer vision and multi-sensor information fusion technology. This thesis analyzes several video tracking algorithms and takes great effort to state the CamShift algorithm. We use the OpenCV, the famouse open source video library, to implement the CamShift algorithm. The system is developed under the Intel dual-core processor development platform, with integration of video processing, ultrasonic ranging, pattern recognition, RF wireless communications and other techniques. The robot system implemented can identify, track the moving object and avoid obstacles. The innovative point of the system lies in the multi-sensor information fusion, which was applied to obtain the accurate object position estimate for efficient and correct tracking. The experimental results show that the system is robust under dynamic environment, achieves satisfactory real-time performance and has a wide application prospect.
