Today people are putting more and more emphasis on the development of Internet of Things. Asan important application area of Internet of Things, Smart Home System becomes a competingresearch object for academics and industry chain manufacturers. The energy-saving, convenient,low-cost way of life makes people put forward higher requirements for the Smart Home System.Improve system stability, reduce power consumption and enhance scalability become the focus of theSmart Home System.This paper is a study of the Smart Home System based on ZigBee communication technology,and it mainly researches the improvement of ZigBee routing protocol and the design scheme of SmartHome System, solving some problems in traditional routing protocol, such as high routing overhead,high node’s power consumption and network partition or paralysis caused by nodes run out of energy;applying the improved routing protocol and the framework of ACE reactor to Smart Home System, toenhance stability and expansion of the system.This paper first introduces the background and the research status of the subject, and then itexplains the basic principles of the ZigBee technology, and analyzes the advantages anddisadvantages of the existing routing protocols, providing a theoretical basis for selection ZigBeetechnology as a means of communication for the Smart Home System. Then based on the existingZBR routing protocol, this paper proposes an improved ZigBee routing protocol, M-ZBR, mainlyincluding that improving node’s address distribution method and the network routing selectionmechanism, setting nodes energy balancing strategy. The simulation result shows that M-ZBR isbetter than tree routing protocol and ZBR routing protocol in the routing overhead and node energyconsumption. Applying this protocol to ZigBee network communication modules in Smart HomeSystem can greatly improve the stability of the system and reduce the power consumption of thenodes. Then this paper describes design scheme of the Smart Home System, including ZigBeecommunication module design, smart gateway design, control system design and system softwaredesign based on the framework of the ACE Reactor. The control system provides software operatingplatform and protocol conversion strategy for Smart Home System; the ACE framework simplifiesthe implementation of the system software, enhanced system’s stability and scalability. Finally, thepaper makes test for the Smart Home System, and the result shows that the system realizes the desiredfunction and operates steadily.
