Study On The Present Situation And Problems Of Children’s Reality TV Show

Children’s reality show is a new type of program on the TV screen in recent twoyears. As a product of compound media that enjoys complementary advantages of children’s variety show and reality show, it has the characteristics of educationalproperties of children’s programs as well as the recreational properties of reality show.It has became a wonderful platform for children to participate in the social andcultural activities so as to show themselves and express their feelings. It not onlybrings unprecedented and cheerful viewing experience to the children today, butcreates a more stereoscopic and diversified media image of them. Therefore, it is anew cultural phenomenon. This paper focuses on the children’s reality show, whosenature, development path as well as characteristics will be analyzed. On the basis ofthree representative programs："new generation of sound in China","Family shows "and "Supper nanny" for case study, the current problems and flaws of the children’sreality show will be summarized to analyze the deep-seated reasons behind them.This paper suggests that only we adhere to the basic idea of "childhood would notdie" in children’s reality show can we truly achieve the aim of education inentertainment. For this reason, relevant suggestions would be proposed to make thechildren’s reality show in China embark on a course of healthy and sustainabledevelopment.
