In this paper, Journalists, refers to the TV reporters who introduce the news factbefore the camera. Journalists came out in1950s, when American journalists beganto appear on the screen to television viewers to report the news fact, compared withon-camera reporters appearing in our country in the1980s. In1997, after thelandmark of large-scale live reporting of Hongkong returning to China, TV hadbroadcasted many big events such as Olympic Games, Asian games, the Wenchuanearthquake, etc. TV journalists lead the audience to see, to hear and to feel, thusenhance the credibility of the news. It formed a relationship of "I and you"between reporters and audiences, in this way it’s more likely to attract the attention ofthe audiences. With the rapid innovation of news broadcast technology, especiallythe widespread use of3g portable broadcast equipment, it makes possible to reportlively on different kind of news. And the new age calls for a more qualified reporter,who can handle live reporting well.In this article, the first chapter analyses the role of a reporter, the second chaptercompares the similarities and differences between Chinese and western journalists,the third chapter shows what capabilities are required as a TV journalist, the fourthchapter analyzes what quality and accumulation is required, the fifth chapter tries tofind out what makes a outstanding journalist,the sixth chapter refers to similarities anddifferences between the journalists cultivating system between china and foreigncountries, and gives the author’s suggestions.
