With the development of the scale of the shopping centers and the growing proliferation of product categories, it is increasingly difficult for customers to choose products. Custumers have to wander among different brands of commodities troubling with which one to choose. We call it decision problems. To assist consumers to resolve decision problem, we design an application running on mobile devices, which called mobile shopping assistant. It aims to assist consumers to choose the most suitable goods. The mobile shopping assistant can give the custumer persoalized recommendations, and the information on comments, sales volume or even comparison results through scanning the barcode of the products to assist consumers to choose the goods that most suitable for them. This study is divided into user needs analysis, prototype design and technology prototype implementation. We analyze the existing problems of consumers during their shopping in the supermarket and get three parts custumer needs include seeking, choosing and checking out. We focus on the choosing part to be the most important one, and get the research question. How to design the mobile shopping assistant can assist customers choosing goods. Then we design the solutions based on these requirements, included overall design, key point design, and evaluation. In the overall design phase, we get the functions for the shopping assistant. Then we pick the function of personalized recommendation and barcode scanning up to study deeply. In order to design more effectively, we use the methods of scenario, story board, usability testing. We program the design proposal and test it too and get the results that the mobile shopping assistant can assist customers to choosing goods and the usability is good enough for the users to use. Thesis was written in accordance with the design process, includes four chapters: chapter 1 introduces the research background and research content;chapter 2 explains how to use questionare, field study and interview to collect data, and then analyze the target users’ needs analysis, use of the environment and typical tasks;chapter 3 introduces design of resolutions; chaper 4 describes Programming Realization and the evaluation.
