Research On Pension Security About The Families Which Lost Only Child In Quanzhou City

China released the One-Child Policy at the end of 1970 s, one couple was allowed to birth one child. Almost of the couple obey this policy. But the only child of many family are dead too early because of disease or unexpected accident, leaving a lot of families with no child and the parents who lose the only child live lonely. At present the number of family which lose the only child is increasing at the speed of 76 thousands per year. The statistical data show that the number of the only child who die before the age of 25 will be more than 10 million and their parents will become lonely old people. The big number of families which lost the only child and the pension burden of the lonely parents are becoming the society problem we must face. These parents will both suffer the sorrow of the death of their only child and face the living pressure of the future. Although the difficulties of these parents have drawn the attention of government, and government already took some measures to help these people, but that is not enough. Rebuilding the living hope of these parents who plan to rely on their child when they are old and providing them with reasonable and effective help become the responsibilities of the whole society.This essay introduced the overview of the family which lost the only child in Quanzhou city and analyzed from the aspects of psychology, economy and life caring. This essay also analyzed the difficulties of pension security in the aspect of mental and material based on the theory of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Social Support Theory and made a conclusion of the essential and urgent demands of the family which lost the only child in order to provide reference for the government in the policy making process. So government can have a tendency in the formulation and implementation of policies and improve the current social security policy. So this group of family can benefit from the social security policy and get out of the difficulties of pension security.
