With emotions exuberant but reserved and subjects special, classical poetry becomes a significant object for Chinese aesthetic education research. Recent years have witnessed its sound momentum of development with high school Chinese teachers learning advanced research and improving their teaching, which has achieved a good result in aesthetic education of classical poetry. However, it still has a long way for advanced academic research to be totally transformed into teaching practice, undoubtedly, there are some conflicts.Taking classical poetry from PEP(people’s education press) high school Chinese textbook as an example, this paper is going to explore what the theory foundation is and how it promotes teaching when people undertake research on aesthetic education of high school classical poetry with the questionnaire survey conducted respectively in the Guiyang No.6 high school and Fenggang(Zunyi) No.2 high school with remarkable difference in the teaching quality. Besides, this paper is going to illustrate these common challenges and problems of the following parts including teachers ’ aesthetic attainment, their Chinese professional knowledge, the implementation approaches for aesthetic education, students ’ aesthetic appreciation, students’ attitudes and their aesthetic requirements.Having noticed these problems above, this paper will talk about the factors that contribute to aesthetic education so as to put forward some specific strategies to solve these existing problems in the process of teaching and learning. On the one hand, teachers are obliged to perfect their teaching in enhancing aesthetic attainment, consolidating professional knowledge, updating teaching concepts and improving implementation skills and others. On the other hand, firstly, students should know the nature of aesthetic education and enjoy the joy of learning; secondly, they should actively participate in learning and feel the beauty of life; lastly, they need to internalize learning experience and achieve the beauty of personality in the process of classical poetry aesthetic education, which makes students’ learning and teachers’ teaching coordinate in harmony in ways that efficiently reach the teaching goal of high school Chinese classical poetry.
