In the New Curriculum Standards of Primary School English Compulsory Education,it has mentioned that the present situation of English education cannot meet the needs of economic construction or the social development of our country. There’s still a gap between the development of times and the requirements of times... the new curriculum reform emphasizes that the course should based on the learning interests, life experience and cognitive levels of students. To cultivate pupils’ interest on English learning and their comprehensive abilities only depends on teachers’ efforts is still hardly to achieve the goals of the new reform. However, it may yield twice the result with half the effort by the application of effective home-school cooperation in English teaching in primary school. In recent years, with the continuous development of educational wisdom, it has become an indisputable fact that the effective combination of home and school’s effort is greater than the sum of each used in isolation. But at present, there are still many deficiencies among the schools, teachers and parents during the implementation of the home-school cooperation, so that this theoretical powerful educational force does not make such a positive effect on the pupils’ study and growth completely. Therefore,it is of practical and theoretical significance to investigate the problems of home-school cooperation in primary school English teaching and put forward the corresponding solutions.From the perspective of case study, on the basis of theories and research results of both domestic and abroad, this study applies the integrated use of literature and investigation. It carries on both the questionnaire survey to the whole English teachers and parts of parents and an in-depth interview of some teachers and parents at S primary school in Chongqing. The survey and interview are mainly from these three dimensions: home-school contact(contact ways, contact frequency), home-school cooperation( cooperation ways, cooperation contents) and home-school cooperation consciousness(the understanding of cooperation and present situation of cooperation,the sense of responsibility). And then finds the existing problems and causes of home-school cooperation in English teaching in primary school. The causes of the problems can be primarily attributed to three aspects, which are teachers, parents andschools. At last, puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions to improve the home-school cooperation in primary school English teaching. For teachers, they should keep up the pace of the times to build diversified ways to contact with parents, to breakthrough traditions to open a new style of two-way communication parents’ meeting, and encourage the parents to learn together with their children. For parents,they also should advance with the times and ceaselessly improve their educational wisdom and the sense of cooperation, communicate with their kids and teachers actively,partake in children’ English learning process and pay more attention to their specifics than their scores. For school managements, it should strengthen teachers’ training to constantly improve teachers’ consciousness and ability of home-school cooperation,meanwhile pay more attention to the education of parents, to provide professional guidance and help for the family education and broaden the channels of cooperation and welcome the parents take parts in the class.
