As research teams are considered to be the building blocks of modern organizational designs to meet the challenges brought by the complexity and systemic of scientific research,how to build up research teams with higher efficiency or improve the existing teams’ efficiency has been paid more and more attention.The scientific research teams in university or college are always composed with teachers and students, and both teaching and researching are the two primary targets of the teams.Because of the unique composition and target of university research team, the influence of formal authority within the team is not so strong. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the impact of leadership style- the pattern of attitudes that leaders hold and behaviors they exhibit. Moreover, as being members of a research team, no matter teachers or students are likely faced with severe working/studying pressures or role conflicts. To improve positive psychological capacities to the greatest extent is one of the most important tactics to enhance the team’s competitiveness.Team psychological capital is defined as the team’s level of positive psychological capacities: team efficacy, team hope and team resilience. It can explain and predict the team’s whole performance. As a kind of state-like construction, team Psy Cap can be managed and developed practically. The attitudes and behaviors of team leaders can affect the members’ thought and feeling formally, or even in a non-goal-driven or indelibrate way. Leadership style is important to facilitate the generation and development of team Psy Cap.This paper designs Positive Leadership Questionnaire, Team Psy Cap Questionnaire, and Team Performance Questionnaire based on the existing literature, and test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire by making exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, in the use of SPSS17.0 and AMOS17.0 softwares.This research uses the validated questionnaires to survey the positive leadership, team Psy Cap and team performance, and tests the interacting effects among the variables. Several conclusions are obtained, as shown below:1. The levels of positive leadership, team Psy Cap and team performance of university research teams are good, and significant correlations are found among the variables. There is no significant gender difference on the variables, and there are differences on property,type and duration of the team, and the status and tenure of team members.2. Positive leadership positively impacts team performance of significance, and higher level of positive leadership indicates better team performance. Each dimensions of positive leadership positively influences team performance, and both follower- and task-oriented positive leaderships can positively predict team performance.3. Team Psy Cap positively impacts team performance of significance, and higher level of team Psy Cap indicates better team performance. Different dimension of team Psy Cap has different influences on team performance. Both team hope and team resilience positively affect team performance of significance, while team efficacy doesn’t have significant effect on team performance.4. Positive leadership positively impacts Team Psy Cap of significance, indicates that to implement positive leadership can booster team Psy Cap. Meanwhile, positive leadership positively impacts each dimension of team Psy Cap, and among which the team resilience are affected most strongly. Moreover, each dimension of positive leadership has positively influence on team Psy Cap.5. Team performance partially mediates the relationship between positive leadership and team performance of significance. To the research teams in university, while implementing positive leadership to improve team performance, it is also necessary to paid attention on team-level positive psychological capacities, and enhance the positive perception of leadership by improving team Psy Cap, to guarantee and booster the influence of positive leadership on team performance.
