With the accelerating process of urbanization and the flooding of rural young workers into the town, it turns out to be that the num ber of rural empty nesters has increased year by year. Because of the rem ote rural locatio n, spiritual and cultural deprivation, the limitation of finance in village committees and government, the help and support of empty nesters appear to be insufficient. In addition, it is prone to overlook the needs and demands of the elderly, especially the old without children. Because empty nesters themselves are vulnerable, the empty nesters in rural areas are more special in these groups. Further more, they cannot share th e equal resou rces, and even m uch fewer com pared to other e lderly people. Therefore, they cannot be satisfied and num erous questions about the life of the empty nesters are triggered.Elderly group work refers to under the guida nce and assistance of social workers, to make use of interaction and group cohesion among elderly members to help older members to learn the experience from others In turn, it changes their behavior in order to help them face up to the difficulties, and restores its social function and promotes the growth of their own professional social service activities. The project is to let empty nesters better adjust to the society, and then achieve the better quality of life.This project chose the empty nesters of A village in Changchun City of Jilin Province as the survey objects, and then made a study on them by using professional knowledge and methods of social work. It firstly m ade a field-investigation of the dem and of em pty nesters in A villag e, then estimated the relative social resources of A village, and f inally made analysis on the group m embers’ family and life and on the common problems existing in their family and life. The author, under the guidance of professional philosophy and by using the m ethod of group work, coupled with the social prac tice the author has learned, has developed a set of feasible activity plan, and hoped to rural m ake certain contribution to the loneliness elimination of empty nesters in rural areas.This practice activity has proved that usi ng the way of group work has certain effect on the loneliness elimination of the empty nests in rural areas, and the group members have changed to some extent both in their concept and action. Different from others m odels of getting together, according to the p erspective of the service object, g roup work m ainly focuses on the developm ent of the ir own abilities, which is m ore conductive to the development of service objects.
