Pre-scientific concept of biology means that before formal science education individual would form the biology concept in their daily life which is different from the scientific concepts in connotation extension and illustration. Transforming the pre-scientific concepts of students is very important for them to promote their biology study. Biological science is a natural science which studies the relationship between life and its surroundings,it is closely related to our life. And life oriented teaching is a teaching way to strengthen the connection between teaching and the students’ life experience. In theory, pre-scientific concepts that students get in the daily life can be transferred to scientific concepts through the life oriented teaching method.This paper is a pilot study of using life oriented teaching method to change the pre-scientific concepts which high school students ownon the "cell senescence and apoptosis" and " cell cancerization", aiming to explore a new way to combine the biology teaching and students, life. First,the study analyzes the pre-scientific concepts revealed by a questionnaire testing, and these pre-scientific concepts are incorporated into a pre-test questionnaire "pre-scientific concept of high school biology questionnaire". Then, the results of the pre-test of the experimental class and the control class are sorted out. Next constructing suitable life oriented teaching strategies to adapt to different types of pre-scientific concepts and having experiments in the experimental class and control class. Finally, inspecting the effect of transformation ofpre-scientific concepts and make some teaching recommendations based on the findings.The study finds that:(1) there are many pre-scientific concepts of cell aging apoptosis and carcinogenesis in students’ mind;(2)the effect of the life oriented teaching strategies for changing pre-scientific concepts is obvious;(3)the life oriented teaching method can arouse students’ learning interest. It is suggested that teachers should pay attention to thestudents’ pre-scientific concepts and establish a library of pre-scientific concepts by using the literature and the students’ reflectionsafter school. Besides in the process of biology teaching, teachers can try to change students’ pre-scientific concepts by using the way of life oriented teaching strategies.
