In the new English curriculum syllabus issued by the Ministry of Education in July 2001, we have definitely proposed task-based English teaching model that is a kind of developing morphology of communicating teaching ideology. It can change “time-consuming and inefficient of English-teaching †and “language impassability†in Tibet region.After a term of the teaching practice, we have constructed this teaching model in Lhazê junior high school based on the introduction of the definition of task, the principle of the commonly used types of tasks and so on. The purpose of task-based English teaching model is to urge teachers to improve teaching methods and urge students to improve learning interest, and promote students’ effective learning and teachers’ effective teaching; to help students improve the learning efficiency,cultivate the students’ learning enthusiasm, improve students’ ability and quality of learning; to explore the existing problems in the ethnic areas during carrying out task-based English teaching. Based on the analysis of practice data, we have drawn the following conclusions: firstly, the students’ integrated English skills improve; secondly, the students’ learning attitude and learning initiative have been more serious; thirdly,the students’ cognitive strategy and controlling strategy strengthen.It is just a try-out to practice task-based English teaching model into Tibetan junior English classes. Undoubtedly, there are some confusion,such as how to solve the contradiction between the specialty of the students English-study in Tibet and the students’ expectations of English teaching; how to coordinate team activity and the students’ thinking abilities weakened; how to deal with the problem of the task-based teaching model for high requirements of the teachers. This thesis is divided into five parts:Part â… : Introduction. This part includes two aspects. The first aspect includes the causes of selecting the subject, the purposes and meaning of the research, research methods. The second aspect is a literature review about task-based teaching, including the core concepts, the principles, the types of task, the teaching process, the evaluation of task-based teaching and the theoretical basis of task-based teaching.Part â…¡ : Compare the current English teaching model of Lhazêjunior high school of TAR and task-based English teaching model. Firstly,this part analyzes the current English teaching model of Lhazê junior high school of TAR. Then, this part compares the current teaching model and task-based English teaching model.Part â…¢ : Preliminary construction of task-based English teaching model in Lhazê junior high school of TAR. This part constructs the task-based English teaching model in Lhazê junior high school of TAR onthe basis of aims, the conditions of the implementation, the steps of the implementation and the evaluation of the task-based English teaching model.Part â…£: The practice of task-based English teaching model in Lhazêjunior high school of TAR.
