China has maintained sound cooperative relations with the ASEAN for a long time, which was caused by geographical conditions. From the scale of economic and trade exchanges to the establishment of China- ASEAN Free Trade Area and further developing, the whole achievement is not achieved overnight. In the political、economic and cultural domain, the mechanisms for bilateral cooperation have been improved with cooperation area steadily expanding and the degree of cooperation deepening continuously, so does the cooperation of higher education. From the 1950 s and 1960 s, the cooperation in higher education of China and ASEAN, along with the development of the ups and downs of the history、economic and trade cooperation, is developing step by step.Twenty- first Century is the era of knowledge economy and information society. With each passing day, social is developing rapidly. Knowledge and talent have become the key point of economic development in all countries.As the main position of personnel training and knowledge inheritance, higher education plays an increasingly significant role in the world. Therefore, the process of internationalization of higher education is strengthening continuously with the world economic integration. So far, the international cooperation of higher education not only has broken the shackles of nationality、regions and countries, but also has promoted sharing and integration of the higher education resources. The current study is elaborating the cooperation of higher education between China and ASEAN systematically, striving to show the history and laws of higher education cooperation so as to provide a comparative perspective for the internationalization of China’s higher education. In order to achieve the above research objectives, the present study adopts the following research method: literature research method, comparative research method and historical research method.This dissertation is divided into five chapters focusing on the analysis of China’s higher education cooperation with ASEAN. The author put forward the strategic vision and future prospects of China and ASEAN higher education cooperation through the combination of relative problems and the summary of the reasons.The first chapter is the introduction presenting the background of this study. Literatures existing on higher education cooperation between China and ASEAN are summarized, induced and analyzed. And then, this paper expounds the significance of the study and research methods. Finally key terms are defined in detail.The second chapter is the social basis of China and ASEAN higher education cooperation. Based on the economic, political, cultural and educational dimensions this chapter focuses on illustrating the social basis of higher education cooperation between China and ASEAN, which is the ground work of whole paper.The third chapter constitutes the main body of this thesis focusing on the practice of higher education cooperation of China ASEAN. From implementation, content, problem and influence factors of China and ASEAN higher education cooperation respectively, which is elaborated systematically and analyzed comprehensively. The purpose is to highlight the general view of China and ASEAN higher education cooperation practice, to find out the essence and rules, and to provide a realistic basis for the future vision and prospect of higher education cooperation between China and ASEAN.The fourth chapter is strategic conception of China and ASEAN higher education cooperation. Namely, in order to the more thorough and coordinated higher education cooperation of China and ASEAN. It presents the prospect of future cooperation under the profound reflection on current situation of higher education cooperation between China and ASEAN, establishes the principles of cooperation in higher education, formulates goals of cooperation in higher education and innovates measures of higher education cooperation.The fifth chapter is the prospects of China and ASEAN higher education cooperation. According to the characteristics and laws of the development of the higher education cooperation between China and ASEAN, the subsequent four are proposed. First, enhancing the legalization of regional higher education cooperation; second, Promoting the informatization of regional higher education cooperation; third, deepening the marketization of regional higher education cooperation; fourth, strengthening the integration of regional higher education cooperation.
