Geography is a broad and knowledgeable subject that belongs to not only social science filed, but also natural science area; its spatial and temporal scales of knowledge points are large enough by comparing to other subjects’. Indeed, in order to cultivate students’ geographical literacy and skills, a large quantity of fundamental theories and principles are needed to be proved through experiments. The new national curriculum standards advocate attaching great importance to the research of geographical probes, particularly the education department promulgated ((Regular High School Curriculum Standards》 in 2003 that implemented detailed description of geographical experiment development; advocated schools and teachers developing geographical observation activities both in class and for extracurricular time, organizing students to do geographical research and investigations. As superior teachers, doing geographical teaching experiments and research bring practical meanings and theoretical values.In order to realize and analyze high school geographical current practical teaching circumstances, attempt to explore its existing problems, implement geographical experimental teaching contents, enhance strategies of teaching efficiency, foster student’s practical skills and apply ability of tackling geographical questions, the text sets the researching range of high schools within Taicang city by questionnaires.The text consists of five sections:section one demonstrates research background and general significance, explains fundamental geographical experimental teaching functions, introduces research methods and technology roadmap; section two illustrates two principles of geographical experiments and geographical experimental education, presents domestic and foreign research circumstances, and introduce theoretical foundation of high school geographical experimental education; section three demonstrates questionnaires survey based on current high school geographical experimental teaching circumstances by using statistical methods and results’ investigation, concludes existing high school geographical teaching questions in Taicang, and analyzes causes that influence high school geographical experimental teaching causes; section four implements suggestions for enhancing high school geographical experimental teaching strategies by giving a number of real cases, constructs geographical experimental general teaching methods in order to perfect its domestic geographical teaching resources; section five makes the conclusion, summarizes innovated points, figures out drawbacks and gives suggestions for future prospects.The text analyzes existing problems based on high school geographical experimental teaching circumstances in Taicang by using analyzed methods, interviewing, questionnaires research and comparisons; implements policies and suggestions in order to develop its teaching methods and enhance its teaching efficiency various aspects in which constructing local high schools’ geographical experimental teaching methods, designing experimental teaching methods more practically, practicing experimental processes, improving teachers’ qualities, and enriching geographical experimental teaching resources.
