Chinese people just enter modernity, there is trouble of modernity. Tradition, modem and post-modern present at the same time. China’s modernity is complex, contradictory, full of all kinds of tension and conflicts:the conflicts between traditional collectivism and modern individualism; the conflicts between democratization of Public Power and pluralism of individual interests; the conflicts between the norms of rational operating mechanism and the self-awareness, individuation of individual, and so on.In the field of education disseminated by modernity, instrumental rationality is dominant, humanity and sense of concern obscured; utilitarianism and pragmatism is largely popular, the authenticity sunk gradually. The field of education is full of thorny issues, and in addition uncertainties increase the complexity of educational problems. In the situation, teachers self-produce a series of questions:"Who am I", "Who am I as a teacher", "Where do I want to go". Teachers’security of self-ontology is challenged, teachers suffer a series of teachers’ self-identity crisis:the differences between individual teachers are denied, while teacher’s self-individuality is absent; the boundary between teachers and non-teachers is becoming vague, while teachers’ self-social dwarfs; teachers are materialized and enslaved, they falling into humanity crisis, struggling on the human edge, while teachers’ self-spiritual atrophies.Under the modernity context of China, the traditional culture of teacher advocates hierophant of teachers who whole-heartedly dedicated, unrequited reciprocation, which in fact is strangle for teachers; education is becoming profitable business, and public mission of teachers is declining; instrumental rationality in schools is flooding, while the initiative of teachers is oppressed. Negative factors from the culture, the economy, the politics and the society influence teachers’ self-identity profoundly, and lead to teachers’ self-identity crisis. According to the likelihood of modernity, the author attempts to propose countermeasures of teachers’self-identity crisis:sublate the traditional culture of teacher, and shape the real image of teachers; adhere to the public welfare of education, and strengthen teachers’ public mission; deepen the reform of institutional mechanisms for education, and treasure teachers’spirituality, and so on. Through these efforts, we can help teachers return to the survival of authenticity, achieve the self-integrity and self-identity of teachers.
