The social development of Huangzhou is still backward before the Ming Dynasty, which has been considered as wildness where was out of enlightenment fashion. Starting from the mid Ming Dynasty, however, Huangzhou jumped into an important cultural center of Hubei province, where education developed well, with all kinds of numerous school academy, the imperial talent quantity ranked the first among all houses in Hubei. Study on the unique historical phenomenon is one of the important contents of the regional culture of Hubei, but also has academic value to the study of local history and culture.In seeking to be scientifically rigorous, this paper identified and proofread some literature materials to ensure the accuracy of the research materials. Based on this, the paper also made a concrete analysis of the Huangzhou’s education and the imperial talent pomp, besides, the reasons of the formation of the grand also have been discussed, mainly from the perspectives of culture and society to explore the cause of the formation about the event.Thanks to a long time influence of celebrities and banishment culture which represented by SuDongpo and Wang Yucheng, the social atmosphere of respecting the virtuous and advocating Confucian culture, promoting cultures and attaching great importance on education has been very strong, which can be obviously seen from the emphasis of local folk and officials on culture and education. On the occasion of of Yuan and Ming Dynasties, the immigrants of Jiangxi settled down in Hubei and Hunan lastly came to Huangzhou. There were three effects:Firstly, to strengthen the Huangzhou’s social climate of promoting cultures and attaching great importance on education, which has formed the value orientation that studying is the best policy; secondly, to bring an advanced mode of production, which has developed the local economy and has laid a physical foundation for the development of education and culture. Thirdly, to bring a large population people, because the imperial examination is a selection examination, which followed by layers of selection and took the best from excellent talents, so the more people participated in the imperial examinations the possibility of success would be higher. Due to the transformation of traffic geographical pattern in Hubei, the cultural center in Hubei also changed from the region of Jinzhou and Xiang yang to the east of Hubei, which was headed by WuChang. This cultural trend, letting Huangzhou to transmit open and enterprising of Chu culture as well as the tradition of seeking innovation, which assembled many talent from different places. These are important external environments for the prosperity of education and culture in Huangzhou in the middle and late Ming.From a perspective of society to analyze the prosperity of education and culture in Huangzhou, it was discovered that education and imperial examination were the most important factors affecting social mobility of Huangzhou. Through education and imperial examination, the poor may be promoted to the upper ranks of society, and to be the families of imperial examination, to enjoy higher social status and more economic benefits. But the family which maintain by the imperial examination was easy to go downhill due to the failure in the examination and was often replaced by the emerging family. So the poor and the imperial family can transform into each other during the history. People from a long line of civilian had the opportunity to rise to the imperial family, and thus could enjoy more benefits and higher social status. The local social values could be guided by the social mobility, which creating a good atmosphere of learning, ultimately making education of Huangzhou well developed, and Huangzhou was always a land of imperial talents.
