Many middle schools, under the guidance of the new curriculum concept, devote themselves to classroom innovation in English teaching, so as to help students to build a democratic, equal and pleasant learning atmosphere. Under the guidance of the new curriculum standards, the learning-plan-guided teaching model is a new type of teaching model at the request of quality education. It refers to such a teaching model that the learning plan is the carrier and the guidance on learning is the method, teachers and students working together to complete the task of teaching. In this kind of teaching model, the teachers’ guidance is of a leading role, the learners’self-directed learning is of the dominant role. This kind of teaching model fully reflects the leading role of teachers and the dominant role of students, and their roles therefore are harmonious and the efficiency of teaching and learning is maximized. However, no teaching model can copy from others and must be school-based adaptation. The emergence of learning-plan-guided teaching model is the practice of the new curriculum concept, at the same time, it is also a reflection on the connotation of modern education again. The study of English course reform needs some theoretical guidance of teaching design and teaching practices. For the theoretical support of this thesis, the author on the one hand adopts the theory of educational psychology: humanism learning theory and constructivist learning theory; on the other hand also accepts the theory of English linguistic:Krashen’s input hypothesis. The common foundation of constructivist learning theory and humanism learning theory is their autonomous learning and independent inquiry, that is to say that both study how to guide students to learn. The input hypothesis of Krashen points out that the comprehensibility of language is the first demand of learning English. English teachers’ study of English language learning theory now to a certain extent affects the choice of teaching model, the application of teaching methods, the design of teaching process and the understanding of students’ role in the learning process. Therefore, the author combines these theories with the learning-plan-guided teaching model, trying to put the learning-plan-guided teaching model into practice. This study aims to explore:to what extent this kind of teaching model can improve the junior high school students’ autonomous learning ability and reflect the dominant position of students in class and the harmonious relationship between teachers and students in the process of teaching and learning. In order to verify the effect of the learning-plan-guided teaching model, this study selects one hundred students of two classes in Grade Seven at No.3 Middle School of Ren He at Minquan in Shangqiu as the research object. These two classes are divided into an experimental class and a control class. The study has priority in the experimental class over the control class. During the study, the author carries out the experiment by means of:classroom observation, questionnaires, interviews and test. After a four-month teaching experiment, the author analyzes the data drawn from the tests, questionnaires and interviews and come to the conclusion that the learning-plan-guided teaching model can effectively improve the students’ autonomous learning ability and cooperative learning ability. And furthermore, this kind of model can also create a harmonious class atmosphere, so as to build an agreeable and pleasant relationship between students and teachers. However, the author also finds that there still exist some problems in applying this kind of teaching method, so the author puts forward some suggestions whose effect has to be testified through practice and time.
