From the scale of the language teaching material selection, novel reading teaching is great significance. Curriculum offered to promote the development of students’Chinese accomplishment from several aspects of demands, causes the student to form initial appreciation ability in secondary school. And the perception of the characters in the novel, the quality of the latter, the language of product, the plot environment is appreciated, and corresponds to the target requirements.Although the modern novel of the middle school students talked about the literary style, but most of them are only concerned about the plot of the story interesting, for behind the language information is ignored, the perspective of subject consciousness is not strong. The reason is that teachers in the teaching process of blindly focus on three elements of teaching, in total disregard of the reading method and the characteristic of the text, that many years of novel reading practice in vain, the ability to read, not improve the coattail effect. In order to fundamentally change the status quo, the teacher in the novel reading teaching must pay attention to the role of teaching design, according to different text features and specific learning situation, formulate different teaching objectives, choosing different teaching content, implement different teaching process and methods, thus in the methodical teaching highlight values and features of each text, to enable students to truly experience the wonderful and mysteries of world literature.This paper is divided into five parts. The introduction mainly discusses the domestic and foreign research status of the novel reading teaching and the deficiency of the research, so as to explain the purpose and significance of the study. The second part is mainly, which is the basis and guideline for effective teaching design of new curriculum for the novel reading teaching requirements and evaluation, in addition, to teach the selected version of the modern novel contents summary analysis to understand the novel characteristics of diversity, "in accordance with the body and teach" lay the foundation. The third and four or five parts are the design of teaching objectives, the design of teaching content, the teaching process and the design of the method. Every step of the design have related theory as the basis, so as to make the whole teaching design which suits the characteristics of novels, consistent with the students’ requirements, and reasoned and convincing.
