Research On The Status Quo And Prospect Of Start-up NGOs

The improvement of policy environment has greatly contributed to the boom of social organizations called star-up NGOs with the deep development of governance and reformation in China since last five years. Star-up NGOs are new forces in social organization and have several characters such as small scale with few members, high morale and motivation, flat organization, strong pressure of existence and vague future and so forth in the early stage of organization. Compared with those earlier and stable social organizations, Star-up NGOs embody an obvious immaturity like a freshman during exploration in several aspects, including development foundation, internal structure, operation mode, resource development, fundraising ability, compliance, management ability and recruiting personnel. How to lead star-up NGOs to a healthy development and what advices on development we give to government in society construction will make a difference in the big picture of China’s governance system.This article chose the start-up NGOs established after 2011 as the object of research, Chongchuan District in Nantong City for example, to study and analyze the matter of life and death against these NGOs and how to treat these matters, with comprehensive use of documentary study, case study, and semi-structure interview and so on. Based on the first-hand information out of research and citing social ecological system theory, the research deeply analyzed a classic case of the establishment and development of start-up NGOs and three systems insuring those NGOs’healthy development and their interactive relationship with the perspective of social system theory. Then combined with the start-up NGOs’ interview records and cases in Chongchuan District, the research analyzed the internal advantages and disadvantages and external opportunities and threats of those organizations with SWOT method. Eventually the research applied life circle theory to predict the future development, put forward advices to the development of start-up NGOs from three aspects and attempted to provide the practical operators and researchers in those NGOs with theory summaries and case references with practical meanings.Start-up NGOs not only reflects promising future, but also its weakness. Considering the situation that many NGOs cannot last soon after their foundation without enough researches to study what social organizations will face in their neonatal period, this article chooses start-up NGOs as the research object and analyzes their future development. This article shows a great space for researches and prospects about start-up NGOs that will benefit in protecting the public-spirited enthusiasm, lengthening the life span of social organizations and gathering limited resources to support the social organizations useful for the whole society.
