Purposes:Function of cardiovascular system is a significant reflection of human physical functions, regularly physical exercises or sports training can make form, function and regulation of cardiovascular system to produce a good adaptation. But the effect of exercises on the cardiovascular system varies due to the different sports and loads. With Chinese economic development and needs of fitness for all, university tennis spreads, but the effect of tennis on physical function of university students is unclear. In this study, by taking the healthy female students as the subjects, measuring the change of cardiovascular function indicators before and after playing tennis, and studying effect of tennis on the cardiovascular system function of university students, we try to understand value of tennis for university students, in order to provide a basis to promote tennis courses in University.Subjects:25 healthy female university students (14 in group of tennis exercise and 11 in control group) without sport experience come from Beijing Sport University. The effect of tennis on cardiovascular system function of university students was studied.Arrangement of experiment:The group of tennis exercise did 10 weeks tennis training, three times per week,1.5 hours per time; the control group did not participate in any exercise. Before training heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, maximum heart rate, maximal oxygen uptake, step index, heart rate variability and other indicators of the subjects were measured as the baseline value; at the ending of 10 weeks tennis training were measured again.Results:(1)After 10 weeks tennis training, step index of exercise group was significantly higher than that of pre-exercise (P<0.05). (2)After 10 weeks tennis training, step index of tennis exercise group was very significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.01); time domain indexes of heart rate variability PNN50 and frequency domain index HF of tennis exercise group were significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.05), while other time domain and frequency domain indexes of heart rate variability had no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). (3) After 10 weeks tennis training, heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, maximal oxygen uptake, maximum heart rate in tennis exercise group and control group had no significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusions:Tennis exercise improves the cardiovascular system function, step index and the ability to regulate the body’s autonomic nervous system increase, in which, the influence on vagal regulation is more significant. Tennis should be widely promoted and popularized in universities.
