The Use Of Picture Books In English Teaching In Primary Schools:Problems And Their Solutions

Picture books received more and more attention among primary school English teachers。The use of English picture books in the classroom as a medium is also more and more frequent. English picture books are playing an increasingly important role in the teaching of English in primary schools. It plays an important role in enhancing the effectiveness of primary school English teaching and creating a real and effective language environment with the picture books as the input of English language. Appropriate English picture books are not only authentic but also can stimulate student interest in reading, and helping develop good reading habits. It will enable students to learn and practice English language, gradually master the English language knowledge and skills, and improve the proficiency of the language. Picture books in English teaching will also expand the students’ horizons to learn knowledge, develop their personality and improve their humanities. It will lay a good foundation for lifelong learning and lifelong development of students.However, the use of picture books in primary school English teaching at present is uneven. Teachers are lack of certain theory and practice. This paper attempts to investigate the present situation of picture books in elementary school English teaching and to find the problem, and put forward the improvement measures, through case studies to explore the picture books in elementary school English teaching application.The survey is made up of the questionnaire and interviews. The problems are found in using picture books in elementary school English classroom, combining with the teaching practice of the case study and put forward the corresponding countermeasures.This paper presents methods of the selection of English picture books in primary school English teaching. It is try to help primary school teachers to select the picture books to meet teaching goals, find appropriate teaching materials for teaching. I learned from current research scholars and their own practice. This paper proposes how to use English picture books in primary school English teaching.
