Chinese characters is a writing sign system of Chinese,which is a necessary part of mastering Chinese listening,speaking,reading and writing ability,and has been regarded as the important and difficult point in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Because of large quantities,abundant meanings and complicated strokes,Chinese characters is regarded as the biggest “choke point”of learning Chinese by learners, especially the learners who are in non-Chinese characters cultural sphere.Our Chinese characters teaching in primary school has a long history and abundant achievements,but the application of Chinese characters teaching in primary school with native Chinese speakers as the teaching objects in teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language.It gets a few achievement and its overall studies are not systematic.Compared to teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language, Chinese characters teaching in primary school has different learning objects. But both of them are guided by pedagogy, psychology and Chinese characters ontology theory to teach step by step.It proves that we can obtain some inspirations from Chinese characters teaching in primary school to teach Chinese characters as a foreign language. The research object of this thesis is the foreign students who have no background of Chinese characters culture.The research try to apply the Chinese characters teaching method in primary school to the teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language whose object is the foreign students in non-Chinese characters cultural sphere,practice in the class to improve the teaching method so that improve teaching results.This thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter One, introduction. This Chapter discusses the origin and significance of the topic, reviewing and summarizing researches on teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language theory, Chinese characters ontology apply in teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language,the methods and textbooks of teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language, the author introduces theories and methods being used in this thesis.Chapter Two,the comparative study of teaching Chinese characters in primary school and teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language.Comparative analysis is a method that comparing Chinese characters teaching in primary school mainly in the first stage to teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language to analyze the same,the different and the teaching method which can use for reference.Chapter Three,the survey and analysis of learning situation and error of Chinese characters of the foreign students who have no background of Chinese characters culture.Questionnaire method is regarding the the foreign students who have no background of Chinese characters culture as the research object to investigate the difficulties that foreign students have in their learning Chinese and the learning of Chinese strokes,order of strokes and radicals on one side of characters.Induction is a method that with the foreign students at the elementary stage who have no background of Chinese characters culture as the object,induct the errors which they make in learning Chinese,analyzing and summarize the research theories and results.Chapter Four,the enlightenment of the Chinese characters teaching of the elementary students on teaching the foreign students who Have no background of Chinese characters.Based on analyzing the Chinese characters teaching in primary school and teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language, the research have a induction and summary of them. In view of the errors that foreign students who have no background of Chinese characters culture and the causes of errors, improve the occasion to carry out the teaching to find the more suitable Chinese characters teaching method for foreign students and verify through the teaching design.Chapter Five,conclusions.The author summarizes main conclusions and improve the interest and efficiency of learners who have no background of Chinese characters culture,so that foreign students can master the important communication tool-Chinese characters as soon as possible.Besides,shortcomings and further researching directions have also been discussed in the chapter.
