In 2011, the Ministry of Education promulgated the "compulsory education English curriculum standard", which emphasized the importance of English learning. Elementary school English learning is the foundation, has received the attention of parents. At present, let the children learn some extracurricular English teaching materials, has become a common phenomenon. How to choose and use the extracurricular English teaching material is the key point of this paper.Based on the existing research, this paper makes a comprehensive study on the current situation of primary school students’ Extracurricular English teaching materials. This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the research dealing with the current status of extracurricular English textbooks, the domestic and foreign literature summarizes, defining the related concepts of extracurricular English teaching counseling.The second part is the Primary School Grades 3-6 some students and parents, teachers and school counseling agencies as the investigation object, and use of English extracurricular guidance materials were chosen for investigation.The third part is from the three dimensions of students, parents, and teachers tutoring English textbook survey on the present study results were analyzed and found that three major factors influencing students’ learning effect, namely tutoring English textbook writing, tutoring English textbook selection and extracurricular English coachs teaching material using.The fourth part is aimed at the influencing factors, and puts forward some feasible suggestions. Recommendations in the primary school English tutoring materials prepared to grasp the principle of students’ interest,highlight the actual needs of students, let language exchange more authenticity, suggested that parents in the selection of English extracurricular teaching materials on the degree of difficulty of the foundation for children and teaching materials, selection of suitable materials; suggestions for teachers in teaching design focus on consolidation between inside and outside of the class teaching and expand, optimize classroom teaching, improve the learning effect.
