Physics is a very important subject during the high school education. However, because of limited teaching resources and insufficient teachers’ teaching ability, many of students’ interest in physics is not high and their learning motivation are not strong, few of them can actively participate in physics learning. In the long run, this kind of situation not only unfavorable to enhance students’ physics learning level, but also may generalize the propensity of passive learning.Therefore, combined with constructivism, humanism, metacognitive theory, this paper give the theoretical interpretation of improving rural high school students learning initiative in physics, meanwhile made analysis of the conceptual meaning of initiative study in physics and its necessity and importance for achieving this goal of teaching. On this basis, according to the investigation of physics teaching situation in a rural high school, this paper analyzed three aspects of learning initiative status in physics about rural high school students from cognition, emotion and volition. Raised the problem of weak learning awareness, poor learning capacity and insufficient learning motivation in active learning. At the same time, this paper proposed some operation strategies to promote the rural high school students learning initiative in physics, such as strengthening education propaganda and form a scientific cognition, respecting students and optimizing the teaching ideas, strengthening metacognitive training and enhancing the vitality of thinking, innovating the way of assessment and reflection, stimulating students’ motivation to learn and building a harmonious relationship between teachers and students and creating a good atmosphere, optimizing the learning environment and strengthening the construction of the teaching team. In order to test the feasibility and effectiveness of these strategies, this article take two classes of grade one in senior high school as experimental subjects that the author teaching, and made a comparison test on cognitive performance and learning outcomes, the results showed that the latter measured data are better than the former ones, then explained these strategies can lead students into a more devoted physics learning and promoting to improve students’ learning initiative.
