| Along with the education reform and global integration development, education international comparisons become the focus of education. Educational methods are different between China and West countries which are affected by many factors, culture, environment, economy, history, etc. Calculus is one of the important contents of the modern mathematics and it is also important knowledge in senior high school. The author found, there are much difference in calculus teaching content, teaching methods, examination form, between Chinese class and western class according to author’s teaching practice. Western countries attach great importance to calculus teaching in senior high school. The thesis selects representative textbooks in China and Australia to carry on the comparison of part of the calculus. The goal is making suggestion for calculus teaching materials in China textbook compilationBy literature surveying the author found that the articles comparing the textbook have increased gradually in recent years. The research mainly contains the comparison in function, probability and statistics and geometry. But there are few articles about the calculus comparison. The literature research, comparison and data analysis have been used in thesis to make comparison in the curriculum standards, the difficulty of textbook, the level of example questions. By comparison, the following conclusions are obtained:(1)The objects are consistent in calculus curriculum standards between the two countries. The objects of calculus in the Australia Curriculum Standards are more than objects in the China Curriculum Standards and the objects are more detailed, more specific in Australian Curriculum Standards.(2) The textbooks from different countries have own different characters from the content and structure of textbook. Column categories of Chinese textbooks are rich. Exercises in textbook are divided by two groups by the exercise difficulty. Australian textbook pays attention to the application of information technology. There are a large number of pictures to explain how to use the calculator to solve problem in textbook.(3) Curriculum breadth, depth and time of Australia textbook are higher than the breadth, depth and time of Chinese textbook. According to the curriculum difficulty formula , the textbook difficulties of two countries can be calculated. The curriculum in Australia is more difficult than the curriculum in China.(4) The thesis analyses examples questions in the three dimensions which are cognitive level, background level, and knowledge points. Make a comprehensive comparison between examples from textbook in two countries. Examples from Chinese textbook are much less than the examples from Australian textbook examples. The average level of examples from Chinese textbook is higher than the examples from Australian textbook.According to the above conclusions, the thesis put forward some suggestions in Chinese textbook compilation:(1) strengthen connection between calculus and other subjects (2) enhanced coherence of knowledge points (3) increase curriculum breadth, depth and difficulty (4) pay attention to the application of information technology.I hope this thesis can provide some reference in the teaching calculus for the high school teachers and provide some reference for the textbook writers. |
