The new curriculum standard specially emphasizes that geography curriculum is to cultivate students in geography literacy and focus on the individual development of students.. During the high school geography teaching, teachers should not only teach students the knowledge of geography, but develop students’ability of learning knowledge. The high geography teaching is an important part of high school geography teaching, only in the higher stage, lets the student develop the learning ability of geography knowledge, high school geography teaching is able to finish more orderly and efficiently.So this paper is guided by ARCS model theory of Kohler, concept map learning theory of Ausubel and education theory of Bruner. According to the author’s own teaching practice and questionnaire result, such as high student geography learning ability training strategy is put forward, and empirical research through the teaching practice and reflection on the basis of the teaching goal, curriculum standards, students’ cognitive factors. This paper mainly consists of six parts:The first part of the introduction. In this part the author mainly introduced the high student geography research background and significance of cultivating the ability of learning, and through the analysis of domestic and foreign related research and finishing, found the shortcomings in the course of study, to determine the research contents and train of thought in this paper.The second part is the introduction on the theory of geography of cultivating the ability of learning. The author through reading literature, consider all ideas to define the concept of geography learning ability. And overview on relevant theory, on the basis of the principles for the design of geography learning strategy, in order to provide theoretical support for this research.The third part is about the present situation of high student geography learning ability were investigated. This part mainly through the questionnaire, understand the high student geography learning ability present situation, find out the problems existing in the students’ learning ability, and then puts forward the targeted and practical learning ability training strategy.The fourth part is the strategy and practice on high school students’ability of learning geography. It put forward the teaching strategy from four aspects on the basis of the result, which are to reduce the difficulty of knowledge, stimulate students’ interest in learning and cultivate learning method. Through the concrete teaching examples, the writer expounded it and improve the operability of strategy.The fifth part is an analysis of the effect of teaching strategies and reflection. Through one year’s teaching practice, change in student achievement compared to a year, to do quantitative analysis of the effect of teaching strategies, and on the basis of a year teaching practice experience, reflect on it.The sixth part is conclusion and prospect. Through the summary and reflection on the this paper research results, which provide specific direction for further research.
