Objectives: To explore the current state of interpersonal trust among both Chinese and foreign students in Xinjiang Medical University. And so that the results can serve as possible references for improving the psychological health education of medical students.Methods: First-year to fourth-year Chinese and foreign clinical medicine majors in Xinjiang Medical University have been selected as the subject of the study. The Interpersonal Trust Scale created by professor Rotter from the University of Connecticut United States is applied in the survey in October 2014 to collect information about the general status and family rearing style of the study subjects, the results of the test of interpersonal trust, and other relevant materials. SPSS is used in statistical analysis.Results:(1) Among the 1043 students effectively investigated, 804 are Chinese nationals taking 77.1% of the total population studied, and 239 are foreign nationals taking 22.9%, among which Pakistanis account for 16.2%, Indians and other nationals account for 6.7%); among all the investigated population, males take 47.8% and females take 52.2%.(2) Results of both Chinese and foreign investigated students in the interpersonal trust test for gender differences have shown statistical significance(P<0.05). However, the results in the interpersonal trust test for different grades, different regions and the status of siblings have shown no statistical significance(P>0.05).(3) In Xinjiang region, the results of both Chinese and foreign medical majors in test of interpersonal trust and idiosyncrasy credit have shown statistical significance(P<0.01). The results of both Chinese and foreign medical students of different gender, regions, and origins have hown statistical significance in the interpersonal trust test(P<0.05).(4) Family rearing styles and education plays a role in forming interpersonal trust in both Chinese and foreign students. Conclusion: More effective measures can be taken to improve interpersonal trust among both Chinese and foreign students according to their differences characteristics and their results in interpersonal trust test.
